Sauce Labs Kickoff 2017 in Palm Springs

This year has started off with a bang for our team in Berlin! On Monday 9th January, we flew into Palm Springs for the annual Sauce Labs Kickoff event, where we had the pleasure of finally meeting the rest of the Saucers in person. With the addition of our Berlin team, there are now 168 employees at Sauce Labs, with offices in San Francisco, Berlin, Vancouver and more remote employees scattered across the globe!

On Tuesday, Charles Ramsey, CEO of Sauce Labs, delivered a welcoming speech where he ran through the impressive company achievements of 2016, and discussed our vision and goals for the new year. Charles also introduced Hannes Lenke, General Manager of EMEA and Andreas Lüdeke, Senior Director of Mobile Engineering, to present the TestObject mobile testing infrastructure for the first time to all Sauce employees.

Hannes and Andreas demonstrated the remarkable speed of our manual testing software, which is currently the fastest available on the market. To our delight Andreas played a cat video he found on Youtube to illustrate our newest feature update, where testers are now able to watch videos with 40fps on our testing software.

On Wednesday, all the Saucers split up for their cross-departmental activities, with Saucers going on hikes, visiting the Living Desert Zoo, museums visits, and more. It’s safe to say Wednesday night got quite rowdy for all of us, and we had a surprise live performance from rock band Audio Bomb, who covered some great hits from the 80s and 90s which the crowd went crazy for!

With most teams wrapping up their presentations on Thursday, we all felt the week went by way too quickly, which tends to happen when we’re all having such a great time. We already can’t wait for next year’s kickoff!
